The Allegro of Karelian Trains is one example of the new era, where the rolling stock no more needs to be directly VR owned, but through one of it's subsidiaries.

Picture above: this is the first picture ever published on the Allegro unit on it's test drive in kerava. The unit was run through a test program daily, 7 days a week, in the early 2010 to ensure the operations without any glitches. By years end 2010 all 4 units had been certified in Russia.. -- Click any picture to see a larger version of it! --

Junakalusto Class Sm5 on test drive meets Sm4 of VR-Yhtyma in Kerava, just outside Helsinki, Finland

Finnish railroad organizations and railroad operators have their own pages, as well as the largest operator VR-Yhtyma and a newcomer to the field Junakalusto.

While much of the passenger traffic concentrates around the capital Helsinki, you might be interested in the roster pictures of VR-Yhtyma, Junakalusto and the city of Helsinki operator HKL. HKL operates the metro and narrow gauge trams.

	Picture: Still unnumbered on the early test drives the Pendolino works it's way slowly past Kerava. The expanded roofline hides a huge amount of additional electronics comapred with the earlier units, plus of course double pantographs for both 15 kV 50 Hz and 3000V DC electrical systems. 	After the initial test phase in Finland each unit at it's turn visited Russia for additional multiple inspections. Here the Allegro Pendolino unit 02 zooms past Kerava early summer morning on it's way to Russia. Picture by Stanislav Voronin.
