to the new St Pancras Theme Page!
St Pancras International is one of the most magnificient stations of
the world, combining modern building with the old Neo-Gothic station
house. This ambitious project was officially completed in 2007 (though
still unfinished) and hundreds of thousands of people use it daily as

St Pancras International - the Building
![]() Picture above: St Pancras international impressive hotel side facade. The building is one of the Neo-Gothic master pieces designed by George Gilbert Scott and staff in his office in 1860s. Belive or not: the British Railways wanted to demolish this magnificent building in the 1960s to give room for more modern offices! Picture below: The inside of the "train shed" as it was originally called, the hotel showing in the background. The current St Pancras is a very busy station both nationally and internationally, and it houses also a sizable shopping mall and lots of services. Pictures by John McKey 2009. ![]() |

St Pancras International - the Train Operators St Pancras International is aterminal for several national and international operators, among others the Eurostar Group and Southeastern. ![]() Picture above: Eurostar capitals (the 18 trailer) units 3214 and 3215 rest between their dashes between the London St Pancras and the continental destinations, the main destination still being Paris, France. The Eurostar Group has 15 years of experience on operating super high speed trains on the daily traffic. Still, it seems that occasionally the cold weather can beat any experience with the high tech trains. Picture below: The new Southeastern class 395 "Javelin" high speed regional train preparing for take off on schedule during the trial traffic. The class 395 have been a success for the operator. The several decades of Hitachi high speed train building experience in Japan show in the finished technology. The trains are capable of speeds up to 250 km/h (155 mph) although their norm speed on the British High Speed One line is 225 km/h (140 mph).
