Finnish Railroad Organizations
Imatran veturipalvelu (Imatra Locomotive Service) is a welcome newcomer to the Finnish freight railroading arena. It has a moderate fleet of mostly old "VR type" diesels on its use at Imatra Stora-Enso plant, which it serves. This plant is not just another factory, it is in fact several kilometers long!

As of September 2012, the company has plans to start bringing in its own freight from the Imatrankoski yard, the first time for decades for VR not handling all the freight on the national network. Now the RzD takes the wagons from Russia to Imatrankoski, then VR takes over and hauls them to Imatra freight yard and further to Stora-Enso plant. Only there has IVP so far been able to handle the "last miles". Now IVP will take the freight cars from near the border area in Imatrankoski all the way to the plant. Expect to see these yellow old but well maintained locomotives on other lines too in the future.

Seen across the lake at Stora Enso plant the Imatran veturipalvelu Dv16 shows its well maintained appearance while it is waiting for the next heavier switching duties. At this time sister locos of the same type, earlier Dv 15 or Move 90 were nowhere to be seen.

A Saalasti (now Teräspyörä Oy) manufactured Otso Robot 100 locomotive seen at the yard of the Stora-Enso Imatra pulp factory. The Robot Bears are quite common in use for production plant operations and serve their owners well where heavier rolling stock is not needed.
