Welcome to the Norwegian Railways Main Page! Norway is the other true mountain railroading country in Europe besides Switzerland and both have surpassed enormous obstacles building and operating railroads. But these challenges still face the railroad building today and the limiting factor always seems to be the money. In Norway the winter operating conditions can be very extreme, still the rolling stock must work its way throught snow, sleet and ice, even on the high mountain areas. |
